Your next petrol stop will cost more. With October 2026 bringing higher UAE fuel prices, Dubai drivers have a good reason to review both their monthly travel budget and their car’s fuel consumption.
According to Khaleej Times, all three petrol grades will exceed AED 4 per litre in October, reaching their highest levels in more than four years. Whether you commute from Arabian Ranches, drive between Dubai and Sharjah, or manage several company vehicles, the increase makes every litre count.

Why Have Fuel Prices Increased
Khaleej Times links the October increase to higher international oil prices and regional supply uncertainty. Brent crude traded around or above USD 100 per barrel for much of September.
For motorists, the immediate effect is straightforward: buying the same quantity of fuel now requires a larger budget.
How Much More Will a Refill Cost
The extra cost depends on the litres you purchase. Here is a comparison for a 60-litre refill:
Super 98: October AED 264.00; September AED 228.00; extra cost AED 36.00 per 60-litre refill.
Special 95: October AED 256.80; September AED 221.40; extra cost AED 35.40 per 60-litre refill.
E-Plus 91: October AED 252.60; September AED 216.60; extra cost AED 36.00 per 60-litre refill.
Diesel: October AED 288.00; September AED 258.00; extra cost AED 30.00 per 60-litre refill.
These are calculations using the published rates, assuming exactly 60 litres purchased. Actual refill volumes vary.
A driver buying 60 litres of Special 95 four times a month would spend AED 141.60 more than in September, assuming unchanged consumption. For a household with two cars or a business fleet, the increase can add up quickly.
How to Reduce Fuel Consumption in Dubai
Check Your Tyre Pressure
Underinflated tyres reduce fuel economy and increase tyre wear. Check pressures when the tyres are cold and follow the vehicle’s pressure label or owner’s manual. The number on the tyre sidewall is not the recommended operating pressure for your car.

Keep Up With Scheduled Servicing
Follow your manufacturer’s maintenance schedule and use the specified engine oil. An overdue service is a reason to inspect the vehicle, rather than replace parts at random. Maintenance can help preserve efficiency, but a service does not guarantee a particular fuel-saving percentage.

Investigate a Sudden Drop in Mileage
If your car needs noticeably more fuel on the same journeys, arrange an inspection—especially if the change comes with a warning light or poor engine performance. A faulty oxygen sensor is one example of a maintenance problem that can affect fuel economy. Diagnosis should come before replacement.

Accelerate Smoothly and Plan Your Journeys
Gentler acceleration and braking support more efficient driving. Leave a safe following distance so you can respond smoothly to traffic. Where practical, combine errands, share journeys or use public transport for suitable trips.

Compare Similar Driving Conditions
Traffic, driving style and air-conditioning use can affect consumption. Compare similar routes and conditions before deciding that your car has developed a fault. A congested week may use more fuel than a week of steady motorway driving.

Track Litres Not Just Dirhams
A larger petrol bill does not automatically mean your car is using more fuel. The price increase alone can explain the change.
To monitor consumption, fill the tank, reset your trip meter and record the litres added at the next full refill. Calculate:
Fuel consumption in L/100 km = litres added ÷ kilometres travelled × 100.
For example, 40 litres over 500 kilometres equals 8 L/100 km. Repeat across several refills for a more useful comparison.
Get Your Car Checked at GT Auto Centre
If your vehicle’s fuel consumption has changed, GT Auto Centre can help you arrange routine maintenance or vehicle diagnostics in Al Quoz, Dubai.
British owned and operated, our workshop offers Bosch Certified Technicians, engine servicing, advanced diagnostics and pickup and delivery service. Tell our service advisor what has changed, your vehicle’s mileage and whether any warning lights are showing.
What is the Special 95 petrol price for October 2026
Special 95 is AED 4.28 per litre, compared with AED 3.69 in September, according to Khaleej Times.
Can servicing guarantee lower fuel bills
No. Maintenance can help maintain efficiency and addressing a relevant fault may improve consumption. Your total bill also depends on fuel prices, mileage and driving conditions.
How can I tell whether my car is using more fuel
Track litres consumed per 100 kilometres across several comparable journeys. This separates changes in fuel use from changes in the price per litre.
